RECOMMENDATIONS
We consider that committing to the itinerary and the schedule is of utmost importance, as well as always being on time for every appointment. In addition, we believe in giving enough time to enjoy rest at the hotel, plus trying to dine at an early hour is also recommended. However, if the conditions of the weather, the road, or the particularity of the visitors imply an adaptation to the route or the itinerary, we will implement the required change in order to keep everybody safe and happy. During the hiking tours, it is of vital importance that the visitors bring adequate hiking gear in good condition. On the contrary, bringing inadequate gear and clothing, especially footwear, even if by only one person, will inevitably slow up the entire group therefore putting hiking operations at risk. Consequently, this is something we cannot afford to happen as it may jeopardize the tour. We strongly suggest previous walking training prior to the tour. We understand that some people may not be used to using walking sticks while hiking, but we highly recommend them and will be happy to show you how to use them so as to make our hiking experience even more of a success. The pace of the tour will be set by the guide based on the fitness of the average hiker. There will be a number of moderate to long breaks but the overall rhythm of the hike should be that so it caters to all the hiking party. Nevertheless, some hikers may be over-prepared and will need to adapt their pace to that of the group. The bottom line here is to keep everyone happy. In the case of a single guide, the group will have to travel together. However, if two guides are on hand, the group can be divided accordingly in regards to experience and fitness. For the wildlife tours, we strongly recommend dark, and if possible, drab clothing of good quality and a good pair of binoculars. In case you require advice to purchase these before the beginning of the tour, we will be delighted to assist you with it. The guide will be carrying at least one good scope for the use of all the visitors on the tour. Therefore, everyone will get to observe the animals we come across up close and personal. For every tour, there will be an itinerary and a target established at the start of every day. This is the guide’s responsibility. But, if for any reason someone doesn’t want to stay with the rest of the group and not commit to the plan, this should be discussed with the guide, and if that person decides to choose a different path, the guide will not be responsible for their decision. This must be formally recorded in a signed statement by the party/parties involved. In the case of customers with specific dietary requirements, health complaints or any other personal issues, it is of utmost importance we are notified of this in advance in order to take measures to cater for given circumstances. For customer comfort, wellbeing and satisfaction, we cannot express how important this is to the success of the tour. So please, do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or doubts you may have prior to leaving. During the tours, we encourage the use of reusable food containers and water bottles in order to keep waste production to a minimum. Tap water is clean and safe to drink, therefore the purchasing of bottled water is completely unnecessary. While picnicking, there will be times when we will be sharing food. The food will remain untouched by bare hands and given to you personally. Furthermore, we highly recommend bringing a personal sanitizer gel in order to clean your hands as often as you feel necessary. In terms of toilets, we will let you know when and where they will be available as we will be making several comfort stops over the course of the day. However, as all our activities will be taking place outdoors, there is always the likelihood that nature will call at an inopportune moment, so we would like to make you aware of this now in order to be prepared should such a situation arise. For most of the tours, we will use a 9 passenger rental van. The guide will also be the driver which means that all the guests in the party will get the chance to ride shotgun at one time or another over the length of the tour. Sad to say though, most rental vans have dark windows diminishing the visual impact when looking out of them. All vans, however, have a small built-in step enabling you to get in and out with relative ease. Generally speaking, Spain is a safe place to be, but it is important to be aware that in cities and parking areas, theft can unfortunately occur. Therefore, we recommend leaving your valuables at the hotel when possible. Avoid leaving important items in the van keeping them on you at all times, or at least hide them from view when you are not in the vehicle. In addition, we also suggest bringing a certified copy of your passport so as to avoid any discomfort of loss or damage to it. We will be taking pictures and/or video during the trip which will be made available to you if you so desire. However, if you do not wish to appear in them, please let us know so we can take appropriate measures. Sometimes carrying too much luggage can burden your movements through airports, or even some hotels, which may not have lifts. Bringing a smaller case could actually work a lot better for you. It is also recommended to label them. In case you are wondering what clothes to pack, please check the weather forecast of the tour location before departure. Please feel free to ask for advice if you are unsure. Laundry service will be made available at certain stops along the tour if needed. Some recommendations of what to pack are; sun glasses, a hat, and a light rain poncho or something of the like. On day trips, you might consider taking an extra pair of shoes or clothes to leave on the bus so you can change into them after the hike prior to getting to the hotel. There will be several opportunities to purchase souvenirs, maps or local food, and please let us know if you need help while purchasing stamps or finding a post box. We also suggest bringing from home a plastic adaptable sink plug as it may come in handy while at the hotels. Electric plugins are of the European type in Spain. Tips are not expected in Spain, but they are always welcome.
